In Jesus Footsteps Elder Steven Cheong This year, we have decided to emphasize and concentrate on two areas of our church life where we have to admit that we are weak in. The first area is in the lack of equipping workers and the second area is evangelism. Our model for the two areas is to take a good look at the life of our Lord Jesus. Our Lord Jesus spent approximately 3 years with His disciples. In the 3 years He was able to successfully train and disciple his sheep so that the church is what it is today. There is no better model than Jesus himself. Lets take a good look at Jesus life and learn from Him.

Healthy Church Growing Church SP Richard Wong "A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all! There are always so many and endless things to thank God for both individually and corporately as a church as we take stock of last year. I trust that each of us is blessed in God’s way as we learn to seek and draw close to God and His Kingdom agenda. God is good indeed! It was indeed a great “Take Me Higher” theme last year, and we continue to build upon it with a new theme 2012 – HEALTHY CHURCH GROWING CHURCH."

Love God Love Man Elder Arthur Lee "What is love without the giving? What is life without the living? The greatest love mankind has ever known was evident from the beginning of time. Adam and Eve were created to have a relationship with God and living in fellowship with Him. When the fruit touched the lips of Eve, the shadow of the cross appeared on the horizon. Salvation began. Sin came into the world and mankind was excommunicated from a holy God. It may be difficult for us to understand and believe that God loves us exceedingly and abundantly. He knows our names, and He does. Our names are written on His hand and spoken by His mouth. God wants to make us right with Him."

Keys to Gain Instant Access to God Elder David Tham "Nowadays, we can have instant access to the Internet World through so many gadgets of modern technology. In the sermon series recently, we saw Pastor Larry's power point about the whole family enjoying I-phone, I-pod and I-pad except the poor father who was fuming with I-pay, man! Many of us will sympathize with him because we are in the same boat. We are living in such fast pace world, that everything must be instant and stay connected. My concern is that we are so used to such instant access to reach anyone or anything in the world but have forgotten to ponder on how to gain Instant Access to God, the Creator of all things. Read this carefully: Shall we wait until one day for some reasons unknown that there's a global power failure that shuts down all the communications to bring us back to our Creator?"

The Alpha Course 2011 Experience Ps Larry Arienzano "I have read and heard many accounts about life transformation and countless salvation from eternal condemnation through this evangelistic tool called Alpha Course. I have first encountered this course in 2009 when I joined Canaan Church. It was very timely most especially for my wife and son as we were still adjusting to the new environment and people around us. It was quite an exciting experience – somewhat a new level of spiritual walk once again going through the basics of Christianity. From the course, I have learned that the message of Christianity is so simple. We do not need to complicate."

Be Taken Higher By The Holy Spirit Ps Brian Wong Recently, I went for an appointment and was made to wait for 30mins before the person arrived. In fact, these situations happen more and more often when people do not have a sense of punctuality. It is annoying, isn’t it - waiting for people who turn up late for appointments. There has to be a better use of time than aimless waits, not knowing when the person you have an appointment with will turn up.

Are We Ready For The King? Elder Steven Cheong One of my children asked me “Is Jesus coming back on 21 May 2011?” That was after reading in the news that someone had proclaimed that Jesus was returning on that date and urging people to get ready. It isn’t a surprise that every now and then, someone will make a forecast or prediction about the 2nd coming. I believe we need not be distracted by all the “noise” out there. Whilst we can see the signs from what is happening in the world pointing to us that Jesus is coming again soon, we all ought to focus on the task at hand because “no one knows about that day or the hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matt 24:36

Take Me Higher Than I've Ever Been Senior Pastor Richard Wong "The first six months of 2011 have just come and gone. With this year’s church theme, “Take Me Higher”,I have been evaluating where the church is in our growth process. We exhort everyone to draw closer, to grow deeper, to build stronger, and to reach farther. We also encourage everyone to look at our 7 areas of life management– work, family, finance, social, spiritual, physical and personal growth – and ask the Lord to take us higher in some of these areas. If everyone would take time to look back and take stock, where are we now in the Lord? Do we feel and think we have raised another notch of spiritual growth? Are we pursuing God more in every direction that He is leading us to?"

Shifting Sand Elder Arthur Lee "The world is changing fast and new ideas are evolving. What we believed yesterday may not be applicable today. Yesterday’s nightmares become today’s reality. Friends will applaud you when you are somebody and will dismiss you when you are nobody. Nothing stays permanent. We are standing on shifting sand."

Walking in Divine Favour Elder David Tham "As I made preparation to write this Communiqué, I began to ask the Holy Spirit:‘What are we missing from you to go higher?’He replied, “Let them know that as children of God, I can empower them to walk in divine favour”. Therefore, when you begin to read, start to recall those moments of divine favour upon your lives. Begin to appropriate His Word in every circumstance and by the power of the Holy Spirit, you will experience God’s favour to take you higher in your life. Do not be fearful; just ask boldly for the favour of God."
