Elder Chairman Steven Cheong

"I came to know Christ as a teenager and started serving in Canaan in my undergraduate years. Jesus has always been my idol. My wife, Amanda and I enjoy serving in various ministries in Canaan. We are blessed with 3 teenage children, Darren, Stacey and Jonathan. My passion is to serve God and fulfill the Great Commission at Canaan. I have been in Canaan Church since the mid-1980s. I look forward to welcoming you when you next visit with us at Canaan Church.”

Senior Pastor Rev Richard Wong

“I came to know the Lord and was baptized in 1973 and had been a very active lay leader in another church since the days of my youth. Called into full time Pastoral ministry in 1993, my wife Josephine, my teenage daughter Kayla and I have been faithfully serving God in Canaan Church. My passion has always been to serve the Lord since I encountered God to be the only true and living God who loves me so much. My life verse that remains true till now is taken from Joshua 24:15 – Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. My life’s mission is to lead people to Christ and to maturity in Christ. It’s a privilege to serve God and you.”

Elder David Tham
“I am blessed to know Jesus since my primary school days and God gave me a devoted wife, Esther and 3 wonderful children, Isaac, Shawn & Joan. I was baptised at Canaan Church in 1982 by Pastor Ng Seng Chuan. I came to Canaan through a classmate when he invited me to quote for some consultancy work for the church’s extension. Prior to that, I was tormented by the evil spirits when I was studying in Scotland and even upon returning to Singapore, I could not sleep properly. When I was young, my mother offered me as godson to the goddess of mercy because I was sickly. But after knowing Christ and by His powerful name, I was able to resist the evil spirits from further attack. Having sound sleep since was a great privilege, as I became a child of the Living God. God has placed a burden in my heart to bring the Gospel to my loved ones and pre-believing friends. I have tasted His goodness in delivering me and therefore it is my desire to demonstrate His power and set the captives free!”

Elder Arthur Lee
“I was a pre-believer for 58 years living a life without purpose and direction. After my retirement in 1998 my wife and I travelled a lot to enjoy the fruits of our labor. But somehow I kept wondering what life was all about. Was there more to life than this? It was then I heard God’s calling to me, tugging at my heart . After much soul searching I was baptised on 11 July 1999 together with my wife Alice. My son Victor is living in California, married with a beautiful daughter. I once was lost but now I am found. God’s Truth has set me free from my fears, anxieties and doubts in my life. There is so much joy in living my life for Jesus, my Redeemer, my Christ. His mercy has given me a new life and His love has shattered the hardness of my heart. I want to give my best to Him by serving in the Benevolent Help Ministry in obedience to His command: to feed the hungry and cloth the poor.”

“Youth Ministry has always been something that burns deeply in my heart ever since I came to believe the Lord Jesus and subsequently got baptized in 1997. Having served the Lord full time in Canaan Church since 2004, my unchanging dream is to see God raise up generations of youths that will live passionately for Him and to pursue the lost relentlessly. I am grateful to God for giving me this privilege to impact young people and to have seen many young lives transformed for His Glory.”
